Wuling Air EV 2-Seater, Looks Cuter

PT Wuling Motor Indonesia officially released the Air ev at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2022 yesterday. This tiny electric car is offered in two models, namely the Standard Range and the Long Range.

The Standard Range is capable of exploring up to 200 km, while the Long Range type is more complete in terms of features and can travel as far as 300 km on a single charge.

Interestingly, Wuling Air ev actually has other variants that are not sold in Indonesia. Even this model has a different body shape and is available with a more capable safety package.

The model in question is the Wuling Air ev with a capacity of two passengers or 2-seater. This type can be seen on the versatile YouTube account that recently uploaded a video about the car. The Wuling Air ev line that was shown was somewhere in China and seemed to have some differences from the cars sold in Indonesia.

Most striking is the absence of a rear glass for the second row of seats. The Indonesian version of the Wuling Air ev is a 4-seater model, where space is provided for two additional passengers at the back.

Meanwhile, the Chinese version of this bamboo curtain only has a capacity of two passengers, making this small car body even more compact. It is noted that this 2-seater Air Ev has dimensions of 2,599 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width and 1,631 mm in height.

On the other hand, the Indonesian Wuling Air ev has a length of 2,974 mm, a width of 1,505 mm and a height of 1,631 mm.

Another difference

Apart from being different in terms of body length, the Air ev in China also seems to have several different specifications.

An example is the absence of body cladding on the front and rear bumpers. Thus the appearance of the Air ev looks sleeker and cleaner, giving a different impression from the Indonesian version.

There is no difference in body color either, from the mirrors to the roof. Meanwhile, the local Air Ev has a black roof and mirrors.

Then Air ev in China has more complete features than Indonesia. The reason is that Air Ev in the country of the bamboo curtain can be proposed with the 360 camera feature and the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

This can be seen by the “bulbs” on the side and front mirrors for the 360 camera, while the ADAS system is placed in the middle mirror in the form of a radar camera.

Same interior

The rest of Wuling Air ev in China and Indonesia is more or less the same. Both have a similar interior design, except for the location of the steering wheel and pedals which are on the left side.

The Air ev in this video is similar to the Long Range type in Indonesia, where the speedometer in the form of a screen is connected to the head unit. The matter of adjusting the AC still uses a rotary knob system.

Then the Air ev steering wheel is also a two-spoke model with white buttons, an upright seat with a headrest attached to the chair, some parts of the dashboard and door panels are covered with soft cloth and there is a pair of cup holders on the edge of the dashboard.

Performance

The performance of the Chinese and Indonesian versions of the Wuling Air ev has no significant difference. Both are available with a choice of standard or long mileage.

The standard version is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery with a range of up to 200 km. While the long range model has a battery capacity of 26.7 kWh which is claimed to be able to explore as far as 300 km on a single charge.

Each Wuling Air ev is embedded with an electric motor with a power burst of 40 hp and a torque of around 110 Nm. All power is channeled to the rear wheels (RWD) and has a maximum speed of 100 km/hour.

The price of the 2-seater Wuling Air ev is still a mystery, because this car has not been officially launched in China. However, as a benchmark, the Wuling Air ev Standard Range sells for IDR 238 million, while the Air ev Long Range costs IDR 295 million in Indonesia.
